Veteran Nigerian actress, Ini Edo has frowned at the lack of regulatory structures in Nollywood following the passing of her colleague, Junior Pope.
Nigerians were plunged into a state of mourning after learning about the death of Junior Pope despite multiple efforts to rescue him following a drowning incident.
Ini Edo has now spoken up, noting that the late actor did not have to give his life in order for Nollywood to establish the extensive and urgently needed regulatory framework that is necessary to protect a whole production.
She said that Junior Pope’s sacrifice had to mean something and demanded a complete reorganization of the system with workable guidelines that would cover everyone in an emergency.
In her words:
“Jnr Pope did not have to sacrifice his life for nollywood to realize the need for a long and much needed regulatory structure that would safeguard an entire production . Yes .. every one is a producer now and all are guilty of negligence of some sort.. and this has to stop. This is one sacrifice too many and must count for something … The system has to undergo a total overhaul with practical rules and regulations that caters to everyone in cases of emergencies…. I will never understand why the good ones go so soon🤦🏻♀️💔. Rest on brother … This one cuts really deep 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔”
