Chelsea have intensified their efforts to acquire Georgy Sudakov.
The Ukrainian prodigy is one of Europe’s hottest prospects and is expected to move to another club this summer. After recently shining for Shakhtar and his country’s national team, Sudakov’s value has increased and he is being linked with almost all the leading clubs in Europe.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in recent months, but the latter seem particularly keen to land the tireless player.
According to the Daily Mail , the Blues have officially begun negotiations with Shakhtar about the transfer.
Probably, Chelsea’s main trump card will be the fact that they already have Mikhail Mudrik in their squad. The winger is one of Sudakov’s best friends and they communicate almost every day.
However, negotiations with Shakhtar will not be easy, as Chelsea already saw when they signed Mudryk. Walleye won’t come cheap.
Shakhtar expects to receive a large sum for Sudakov, knowing full well that he is a sought-after player and that no one is forcing them to sell him for next to nothing. Recently, the young player signed a new long-term contract, which included a release clause of 150 million euros.
While Shakhtar are smart enough to realize that no one will activate this inflated compensation amount, club president Sergei Palkin will demand a tidy sum.
The Donetsk big boss was present at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea beat Everton 6-0 and then confirmed:
“In this summer transfer window he has a big chance to move to a big club. We have had contacts with major clubs, and some of them are not in direct negotiations with us, but are monitoring the situation on the transfer market.”
Shakhtar football director Darijo Srna recently said that Palkin would demand over 60 million euros for Sudakov.
“The president of Shakhtar wants to get a lot of money for Sudakov… There are not many such players in Europe. Sudakov will leave for a very large sum – I am sure that it will exceed 60 million euros. Everyone in Europe wants him.”
