In a recent song, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie proclaimed Burna Boy as a “new cat” while asserting his superiority over popular Nigerian artists Wizkid and Davido.
Acclaimed Ghanaian musician Sarkodie has released a new track titled “Brag,” in which he addresses fellow African music icons Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
The 38-year-old rapper, who has been active in the music scene for nearly two decades, reflects on his own journey to fame and the dynamics within the music industry.
In the song’s lyrics, Sarkodie mentions Burna Boy, Asake, and Black Sherif as rising stars, effectively placing himself above established artists like Wizkid and Davido.
Sarkodie’s verse showcases his rapping prowess and asserts that he was active in the African music scene, known as Afrobeats, before Wizkid’s arrival.
After making significant advancements in the music industry, superstar singer Davido, entered the scene.
Later, Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy (“Odogwu”), along with Black Sherif and Asake (“Lonely at the Top”), emerged and joined Davido in shaping the music landscape.
The artist emphasized that if anyone intends to make comparisons, they should mention musicians like Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole.
He said;“I was already grounded in my career when Wizkid came up.” When Davido began, I was enhancing my craft. Then, Burna Boy, Black Sherif, and Asake joined the scene.”
He said; “that his main competitors in the business are Kendrick and Cole.”
