Behdad Eghbali is in London and is preparing for negotiations with the coach about working at Chelsea
Chelsea’s co-owner is hoping to speak to the manager, who has been identified at the club as one of the leading candidates to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Former Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino finished sixth in the Premier League this season during his year at Stamford Bridge, but he will not be able to continue with the young team.
Sky Sports claims Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali has traveled to London to oversee the selection process for the club’s next head coach.
He is expected to oversee a process led by sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart.
Behdad wants to speak to 44-year-old Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca.
Sky Sports claim Chelsea are keen to hold talks with Maresca, who is one of the leading candidates to replace Pochettino.
Chelsea want their next manager to play possession-based football and be ready to compete with the best managers in the Premier League from day one.
This will be Maresca’s first experience as a first-team manager in the top flight.
According to FBREF, Leicester finished this Championship season with a huge average possession of 61.6%, second in the league behind Southampton (65.5). According to the management, Maresca is clearly the right fit for Chelsea when it comes to assertive, possession-based football.
