As per the report, at approximately 12:30 pm, a fire broke out at the market situated along Tejuosho Canal, which included both shops and residences.

According to reports, a community member left food on an unattended gas cooker in one of the rooms, which is where the fire originated.

Residents rushed out of fear for their lives as the flames quickly spread to multiple wooden blocks beside the canal.

This happened just 24 hours after a gas cylinder explosion in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos State claimed the lives of three people.

The explosion was caused by improper handling of a gas cylinder, according to Margaret Adeseye, director and chief executive officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), who confirmed the information.
