London Chelsea is on the verge of appointing a new head coach – it will most likely be Enzo Maresca.
It is expected that the Italian specialist will sign a contract for at least five years. Leicester’s compensation for his transfer will be around £8-10 million.
Maresca plans to take most of his coaching staff with him, including assistant and former Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
Despite some players being upset by Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, there is already excitement at the club about what Maresca can bring.
Chelsea’s players believe they are on the rise and Maresca’s favored 4-3-3 formation should suit the squad.
Sporting directors Lawrence Stewart and Paul Winstanley led the search for Pochettino’s replacement, with the active participation of club co-owner Behdad Eghbali.
Chelsea are confident that they have landed an incredible coach. The club’s management is inspired by Arsenal’s example and their patience with Mikel Arteta, even having watched the All or Nothing documentary on Amazon.
Despite the fact that Maresca will become Chelsea’s fourth permanent coach in recent years, the club’s management is committed to long-term cooperation. They believe Maresca is the ideal candidate: young, progressive, possession-based and, of course, a disciple of Pep Guardiola.
