US laboratory refute claims of carrying out toxicology tests on Mohbad.
NMS Labs, a lab in Pennsylvania, states that they did not conduct a toxicology report on Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).
In response to an inquiry, NMS Labs revealed that an autopsy on Mohbad’s body could not determine his cause of death due to decomposition.
However, the state government’s counsel, Akinde, informed the court that a toxicology test, part of the autopsy, was conducted in the United States.
To support this claim, Gbenga Omotoso, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, spoke live on the phone with Ahmad Isah, the host of the Abuja-based online program Brekete Family, in February 2024. During the call, Omotoso stated that the toxicology test was being carried out at NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, USA.
In April 2024, the autopsy results for Mohbad were received in Nigeria. A pathologist analyzed the findings and reported to the coroner’s court that the cause of death could not be determined due to the advanced decomposition of the body.
Punch contacted the laboratory to inquire about whether a toxicology test was performed at their facility to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death. The Client Services Associate at NMS Labs responded on May 17th, denying that any toxicology test related to Mohbad’s death had been conducted at their labs.
