People thought their draw against Zambia at the AFCON was a fluke.
This is a Tanzania side that started with 9 players from the Tanzanian Premier League.
They only featured two foreign based players out of the 16 who played and even had the luxury of allowing their legendary striker Mbwana Samatta to retire.
Look at how comfortably their local players dealt with Zambia who started with 8 European based players.
In 2017 the Tanzanian League was not even ranked in the TOP 40 of African Football but today they are ranked 6th.
Their players have been constantly exposed to CAF Club competition group stage and beyond over the last four seasons.
Constant exposure to facing top quality African Clubs like Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, TP Mazembe, Mamelodi Sundowns has not only improved the quality of their players but also playing infront of over 50,000 fans has made them very comfortable when playing under pressure.
Imagine they started with the the third choice Goalkeeper at Simba SC and he was very comfortable and confident against Zambia.
Unfortunately its us today who have to learn something about what the Tanzanian League is doing right in producing a lot of good players for the National team.
