The federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark the Sallah celebrations.
On Friday, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, announced that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had declared a holiday on behalf of the Nigerian government to mark the Muslim festival. He extended congratulations to all Muslims, both in Nigeria and abroad, on this auspicious occasion.
In a statement shared he emphasized the importance of the Muslim Ummah embracing the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, just like Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) did. It also urged them to pray for unity, prosperity, and the stability of our country.
The minister further assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s administration is fully dedicated to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.
As the Eid-ul-Adha celebration approaches, the minister extended warm wishes to the Muslim Ummah and advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in building a prosperous Nigeria to our children.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, announced that Sunday, June 16, will be celebrated as Eid-el-Kabir day following the confirmation that Friday marks the beginning of Dhul Hijjah.
