Chelsea are in discussions with the Italian club over a potential £15 million transfer target.
There is currently a strong core of English players in the Stamford Bridge squad.
Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher are in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 and both have the quality to make a big impact at the tournament.
Chelsea’s dressing room also features English talent such as Reece James, Levi Colville, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke.
Could the Blues be looking to add another player to their squad?
Chelsea are considering the 26-year-old striker.
On Wednesday, journalist Simon Phillips reported on his Substack that Chelsea have been considering re-signing Roma player Tammy Abraham for months.
It is known that the name of the Englishman continues to be heard in conversations. The centre-forward has been in the conversation a lot lately, although his form has been a bit of a concern.
Phillips explains that Abraham will be available for £15 million amid interest from West Ham, Aston Villa and Arsenal.
The former Blues striker is on Chelsea’s radar and that interest could be further developed.
Tammy Abraham is a great price at £15 million.
In truth, we wouldn’t mind Chelsea taking a bet on Abraham if he was available at such a good price.
He struggled in 2024 after returning from a long injury, scoring once in 12 appearances. But this is a striker who has proven he can score goals at a decent rate.
Abraham scored 30 times in 82 appearances for Chelsea. Since moving to Italy, he has scored 37 goals in 119 appearances for Roma.
He has previously had some excellent loan spells with teams such as Aston Villa, Swansea City and Bristol City.
Speaking on talkSPORT in 2022, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher described Abraham as “amazing”.
If you take into account some of the other transfer rumours, Abraham’s £15m deal could seem quite attractive.
