Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. president, was seen being helped off stage with thin streaks of blood on his face by U.S. Secret Service members after shots were fired while he was onstage at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The Trump campaign said in a statement on Saturday evening that Trump was β€œfine” and that he is β€œbeing checked out at a local medical facility.” Donald Trump Jr. also told ABC News that his father is β€œin good spirits” as he remains under medical observation.

A suspected gunman and one audience member are dead, the AP reported, citing Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger. Another spectator is in a serious condition.

President Joe Biden denounced the violence during remarks on Saturday night and said in a statement earlier that he’s β€œgrateful” Trump is safe.

Trump and Biden are locked in a close election rematch, with most opinion polls showing the two evenly matched. Trump is due to officially receive the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention that kicks off in Milwaukee on Monday.
