Blogger Francis Gaitho has revealed that he will present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road after the National Police Service (NPS) said they were looking for him.

In a case of mistaken identity, the police arrested veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho shortly after he left his home on Wednesday morning. However, hours later, the journalist was freed.

The National Police Service addressed the incident, stating:

“The National Police Service would like to clarify to the public that this morning, we arrested journalist Macharia Gaitho in a case of mistaken identity, meant for the arrest of Francis Gaitho who is our subject of investigation. We reiterate that as a Service, we do not target journalists in any way, and today’s incident is highly regrettable.”

The police acknowledged the mistake and emphasized that they do not target journalists in their operations.
