President William Ruto has nominated Julius Migos Ogamba as the new Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Education, pending parliamentary approval.
Ogamba, a seasoned lawyer, previously served as the running mate of former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu in the 2022 Kisii gubernatorial race.
Machogu and Ogamba contested the election on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, but were ultimately defeated by the current Governor, Simba Arati.
Despite this setback, Ogamba’s legal expertise and professional experience have now earned him a critical role in the Ruto administration.
Boasting nearly 30 years of legal practice experience, Ogamba has built a reputation for providing legal advice to a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries.

He describes himself as a passionate, visionary, and accomplished legal professional with expertise in legal research, document preparation, and representation in both criminal and civil court proceedings.
Ogamba holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.
He is currently a senior partner at Migos Ogamba & Waudo Advocates and serves as a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public, as well as a member of the Kenya Law Society.
In March 2023, Ogamba was appointed as the new chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) Board, succeeding former Chief of Defence Forces of the Kenya Defence Forces, Samson Mwathethe, in the role.
If approved by the vetting panel in Parliament, Ogamba will replace the former Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, and be tasked with shaping the future of Kenya’s education sector under President Ruto’s administration.
