In a post on his X account, Nominated Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for nominating him to the Defence position in the new cabinet.
Duale thanked the President and the Kenyan people for placing their trust and confidence in him, stating that the nomination reflects their belief in his ability to advance the nation’s agenda and strengthen national security.
“I am humbled and grateful for this nomination, which reflects the President’s and the Kenyan people’s profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation’s agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness,” Duale said.
Duale has been a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, having served as the Leader of the Majority Party in the National Assembly from 2013 to 2020.
He was first elected to Parliament in 2007 and has been re-elected in 2013, 2017, and 2022.
Duale also served as a ranking member in the Public Accounts Committee in the 12th Parliament.
In his address to the Nation yesterday President Ruto has nominated 11 CSs including six former Cabinet Secretaries to the new cabinet, including Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Alice Wahome (Public Works), Davis Chirchir (Roads), Soipan Tuya (Environment), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), and Ezekiel Machogu (Agriculture).
Duale has expressed his readiness to face the National Assembly committee for vetting and public scrutiny, saying, “I am ready and willing to present myself to the relevant National Assembly for vetting and public scrutiny.”
