The Kenya Railways has introduced new SGR (Standard Gauge Railway) executive coaches for the Nairobi-Mombasa route.

The one-way fare for these premium coaches is set at around Sh12,000 per trip.

The twenty new Madaraka Express passenger service coaches were inspected and officially flagged off at the port of Mombasa by Transport Principal Secretary Mohamed Daghar ON Tuesday

The introduction of these executive coaches is part of Kenya Railways’ ongoing efforts to provide travelers with a more luxurious and comfortable rail option for the popular Nairobi-Mombasa route.

The new coaches boast a range of amenities and features that aim to cater to the needs of discerning passengers.

“We are excited to offer these new executive coaches to our customers,” said Daghar during the launch event.

“These coaches represent our commitment to continuously improving the Madaraka Express service and providing our passengers with a first-class travel experience.”He added

The executive coaches are expected to attract business travelers, tourists, and those seeking a more upscale mode of transportation between the two major cities.

The Sh12,000 one-way fare is significantly higher than the standard Madaraka Express fares, which range from Sh1,000 to Sh3,000, depending on the class of service.
