Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the Kenyan capital on Tuesday, participating in anti-government demonstrations that called for enhanced accountability.

The largely peaceful marches were marked by occasional clashes between protesters and the police, who used teargas to disperse the crowd.

Adamson Bungei, the Nairobi Region Police Commandant, was seen engaging in a conversation with the protesters at one point, attempting to address their concerns.

Alongside the anti-government demonstrations, a group of pro-government protesters also gathered, carrying placards that urged the younger generation to give the President more time to work.

The day’s events took a dramatic turn when a motorbike belonging to one of the pro-government protesters was set on fire on Kenyatta Avenue.

Additionally, a group of anti-government demonstrators started marching towards the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, only to be met by a contingent of anti-riot police.

The protests come amid ongoing calls for enhanced accountability and transparency Ruto Administration

Demonstrators have been demanding that the administration address various issues, including corruption, economic hardships, and perceived lack of progress on key policy initiatives.
