The decision by President William Ruto to exclude the name of Rebecca Miano from the list of cabinet nominees submitted to the National Assembly for vetting has sparked uncertainty and speculation.
Miano, who previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Investments and Trade, was reportedly reassigned to the role of Attorney General in the new cabinet lineup announced by President Ruto last week.
However, when the list of nominees was presented to the Assembly by Speaker Moses Wetangula on Tuesday, Miano’s name was notably absent.
The reason for this omission remains unclear, as the government has not issued any official communication regarding whether Miano’s nomination has been dropped or if she might be reassigned to a different position.
In an apparent reaction to the development, Miano took to X (formerly known as Twitter) hours later, stating, “When rumour mills are rolling, the well-advised stay still.”
Meanwhile, Speaker Wetangula has confirmed that all cabinet nominees, including those being reappointed, will undergo a thorough vetting process by the Parliament.
