Former Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has apologised after being nominated by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.
Murkomen, who previously served in the Transport docket, expressed gratitude for the nomination in a statement on Wednesday, July 24.
He apologised to Kenyans for any offence caused by his words, deeds, or conduct over his last two years of public service.
“The last two weeks have been moments of deep reflection. I unreservedly apologise to every Kenyan whom I may have offended through my words, deeds, and conduct, including my lifestyle, in the last two years of my public service,” he said.
Murkomen pledged to serve with humility and accountability if approved by Parliament.
His apology comes amid a major cabinet reshuffle by President Ruto, who dismissed 21 Cabinet Secretaries and the attorney general, leaving only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. This decision was a response to public pressure.
Murkomen is set to replace Ababu Namwamba, pending Parliament’s vetting.
