President William Ruto has nominated a second group of Cabinet members, including several allies from the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
The nominations come amid ongoing protests in Kenya against Ruto’s administration.
According to the announcement, Ruto has nominated the following individuals to his Cabinet:
- John Mbadi (ODM) to lead the Treasury docket
- Salim Mvurya (Trade)
- Rebecca Miano (Tourism)
- Opiyo Wandayi (Energy)
- Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports and Youth Affairs)
- Hassan Joho (ODM, Mining)
- Alfred Mutua (Labour)
- Wycliffe Oparanya (ODM, Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)
- Justin Muturi (Public Service)
- Soi Langat (Gender)
This follows Ruto’s earlier appointment of 11 Cabinet members last week, including both new nominees and reshuffled members from the previous administration.
The President stated that he is still working on naming the remaining Cabinet positions “shortly.”
The announcement comes amid ongoing protests in Kenya, with young demonstrators calling for changes in the government and an end to government excesses.
