The first speaker of the Homa Bay County Assembly, Samuel Ochilo, has criticized a section of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leaders, led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, for allegedly conspiring to overthrow Raila Odinga from the coalition’s leadership.
Ochilo accused Kalonzo of planning to undermine Odinga’s position, saying, “Kalonzo is planning to overthrow Odinga from the coalition leadership.”
He made this remark following the nomination of four ODM leaders to President William Ruto’s cabinet.
Ochilo argued that the press conference convened by Azimio leaders, led by Kalonzo, to denounce the nominations implied a “coup” against Odinga’s leadership.
“The press conference by Azimio leaders was a clear attempt to overthrow Odinga from his position as the coalition’s leader,” he said.
Musyoka held the press conference on behalf of the Azimio Coalition in Odinga’s absence, with the ODM and NARC-Kenya parties not in attendance.
However, Ochilo criticized the Azimio leaders’ resolution, saying, “It amounts to an attempt to overthrow Odinga from his position as the coalition’s leader.”
