The Lands Cabinet Secretary nominee, Alice Wahome has appeared before the National Assembly Committee has garnered attention after she urged the Committee to adopt her response, highlighting her unique situation.
Wahome acknowledged that she is currently “jobless,” a circumstance she has not faced in over a decade. “Since 1985, this is one unique moment that I am jobless,” she said, expressing her gratitude to the Committee for the opportunity.
During the proceedings, Wahome disclosed that she and her husband are worth a combined Sh327,650,000, a result of the appreciation in the value of their properties.
She also revealed that a tenant had recently paid a lump sum of around Sh14 million in March.
Wahome emphasized her suitability for the role, stating, “I’m a team worker, I’m a hard worker, I believe in hardwork and I have the right attitude to carry out my work as a minister.”
As a lawyer, she expressed her understanding of certain aspects of the Ministry of Lands, which she is nominated to lead.
Wahome expressed confidence in her competence, noting that she had been exposed to challenges in the State Department for Lands in the past and believed she could overcome them with the support of Parliament.
