Aden Duale, the nominated Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary of Kenya, has revealed that his current net worth stands at a staggering Sh980 million.
During his appearance for vetting at the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, Duale provided a detailed breakdown of his vast wealth, which he said is in the form of various assets and investments.
“I have pieces of land both in Garissa and Nairobi, My house in Nairobi, my house in Garissa, my Cattle ranch in Garissa, my rental property in Nairobi and Garissa, my shares in family-owned businesses, my Camels and cattle, and motor vehicles,” Duale stated.
He further added that he has also earned significant revenue from the sales of his autobiography, which he described as one of the best-selling books in the country.
This revelation comes just a few months after Duale’s previous vetting for the Cabinet Secretary for Defence position in October 2022, during which he had disclosed a net worth of Sh851 million.
Duale explained that the growth in his wealth can be attributed to the appreciation of his land and investments, as well as the expansion of his real estate portfolio and livestock.
“We had very good rains, my livestock grew in number,” Duale said, noting that the increase in his net worth was also a result of the good season.
The nominated Environment CS was initially tapped for the Defence Ministry but was later moved to the Environment, Climate Change and Forestry docket by President William Ruto.
