The Gunners’ latest outing saw them thump reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium. New signing Riccardo Calafiori did not feature after completing a move from Bologna.
With just three weeks remaining of the summer window, there could yet be some new faces to appear. A striker is on their shopping list, while there could potentially be some stars leaving.
Mikel Arteta is faced with a whole host of decisions ahead of this summer’s deadline. Take a look at some of the standout rumours over the past 24 hours:
Long-term Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes insists that he is not interested in leaving Newcastle this summer. Guimaraes still has four years left to run on his contract with the Magpies.
He said: “I am here and never said I would like to leave. Since I signed I want to put my name in club history and nothing changes. This is not something I get involved in, it is with my agent. I don’t know anything about it… my focus is Newcastle and I am very happy.
“I want to win some trophies. When I came I said I wanted to play in the Champions League and everyone said I am crazy! Now I want to be there again and win something. We work hard for it.”
While Bruno Guimaraes will not become an Arsenal player, another who looks unlikely to arrive at the Emirates as it stands is Fenerbahce and Turkey star Ferdi Kadıoğlu. According to Turkish outlet Nutuk, the Gunners have already seen a bid turned down for the right-back.
It is suggested that Arsenal bid €20m (£17.1m) for the 24-year-old, but Fenerbahce want to receive more than that. They apparently want to bank €35m (£29.9m) for him.
Arsenal face competition for his services with German giants Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested. They too have lodged an offer lower than Fenerbahce’s asking price.
Mikel Arteta has told Aaron Ramsdale that he needs to “earn” his place at Arsenal amid rumours of a move away. Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates since David Raya’s arrival.
Asked about the goalkeeper’s future, Arteta responded: “It’s the same situation like all the players you know, everybody wants to play, have the opportunities. I have to give those options, they have to earn it, and there’s no difference.”
Ramsdale has been linked with a host of clubs including Wolves and Newcastle this summer.
