The residents of Baringo County have expressed their distress after the county failed to secure a slot in President William Ruto’s reconstituted cabinet.
They have called upon the president to consider appointing Gideon Moi, the former Baringo Senator, to the cabinet following the rejection of Stella Langat’s nomination as the Cabinet Secretary for Gender.
Speaking in Marigat town, Baringo South, the residents expressed their disappointment, stating, “We have shown patience while the president was reconstituting his cabinet, only for Baringo to be forgotten.”
Elvis Dekatie, representing the Tugen community, noted, “As the Tugen community, we voted for the president, but it appears that our loyalty has not been reciprocated.”
He further mentioned, “Our loyalty was evident when we voted out Gideon Moi because of our support for the president. However, we now feel that we have been taken for granted as Baringo has been excluded from the cabinet.”
The residents rejected the president’s claims that he acts as the de facto Cabinet Secretary for Baringo.
“Our community now feels marginalized without a key figure who previously advocated for us concerning employment opportunities and development initiatives.” Mr Dekatie added
The residents have called upon President Ruto to consider their plea for representation in the cabinet, stating that their loyalty and support deserve to be recognized.
