Kakamega County leaders, including Governor Fernandes Barasa, have expressed their excitement for President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s upcoming visit to the county this Saturday.
President Ruto, who recently conferred city status on Eldoret, will be launching a Sh2 billion water project in Malava Constituency.
“President Ruto will launch a water project worth Sh2 billion which will help my people in Kakamega and beyond. The project which will be launched in Malava Constituency is a large milestone towards last mile connectivity of our pillar of water at the doorstep.” Governor Barasa Told Reporters
Barasa was accompanied by Malava MP Malulu Injendi, as well as several ward representatives, including MCAs David Ndakwa, Kevin Mahelo, Peter Wakukha, Peter Wanami, Geoffrey Sikolia, and Keffa Musiya.
MP Injendi urged the residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President during his development tour.
” this water project is not the only initiative underway in the area. Injendi mentioned that the region is also set to receive a road project, another water project, electricity connections, a new sub-county in Malava, and the establishment of a national polytechnic, all of which the President is expected to announce” MP Malulu Injendi said
Injendi also called for patience from the residents regarding the ongoing concerns over poor road conditions, acknowledging the challenges posed by the bad weather witnessed across the country.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor for facilitating the meeting to ensure unity and preparation among Malava leaders to host the President.
During the President’s previous visit to the western region on Madaraka Day, he had toured various projects, including the renovated Matulo airstrip and several kilometers of newly tarmacked roads.
In Kakamega, he had commissioned the Khwisero KMTC and the construction of the Chekalini market in the Lugari constituency.
The upcoming visit by President Ruto and Deputy President Gachagua to Kakamega County is expected to bring further development opportunities and address the needs of the local community.
