The Catalan side have missed out on Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic, and it seems like midfield might be an area they try to look at, following Marc Bernal’s season-ending injury on Tuesday night. However before Bernal went down, Barcelona had identified centre-back as the area Hansi Flick wanted to strengthen.
Flick has reportedly called his and Jonathan Tah‘s agent Pini Zahavi to see if a deal is possible. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky DE, Barcelona Sporting Director Deco is now in direct contact with Bayer Leverkusen for Tah. They are willing to offer €20m for the 28-year-old, who is out of contract next summer.
Tah is keen to leave Leverkusen before the end of the transfer window, but Bayern Munich have been in talks for him for much of the summer, albeit they are yet to make a new offer.
Leverkusen Sporting Director Simon Rolfes declared on Wednesday that he expected Tah to remain at the club, and certainly it would be fair to doubt Barcelona’s capacity to do a deal, given their finances. It would be something of a surprise if they spent on Tah, knowing they will be without Bernal and Frenkie de Jong for some time too.
