In a bold decision, Napoli has announced that Victor Osimhen will no longer be part of their squad for the remainder of the season, and they have now handed his jersey number over to Romelu Lukaku.
Osimhen has a contract with Napoli that extends until the summer of 2026, with an annual salary of around €10 million.
His exclusion from the squad list follows a tumultuous transfer deadline day, during which negotiations for a potential move to either Chelsea or Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli fell through.
In a strategic move to make room for fresh talent, Napoli has decided to leave out defender Mario Rui, joining striker Osimhen on the sidelines. However, Nigerian-Italian midfielder Michael Folorunsho retains his place in the squad.
The team is gearing up to take on Parma today Saturday evening, August 31, at the legendary Stadio Maradona.
