Omega Power Ministry’s lead pastor, Chibuzor Chinyere, has voiced his opposition to the demolition of his church’s free school near the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos.

On Wednesday, officials from LAMATA (Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority) demolished a school built for orphans and underprivileged children.

The demolition was allegedly done to facilitate development projects. Chibuzor Chinyere, a concerned citizen, voiced his disappointment and disapproval of the demolition, highlighting the humanitarian role the school played in the community.

The event ignited a passionate discussion involving the church, transportation authorities (LAMATA), and the general public.

The videos circulating of children crying in school due to the potential loss of their education were particularly distressing.

Read some reactions below.

Chijioke Ikem commented; You people haven’t even said the reason why the building was demolished. If it’s something anybody can write to the Lagos State government, he or she will know what happened and fathom if the action was done by the government or individual persons.

Sabastine Okpara commented; What on this Earth will the Government of Nigeria build in this place that will be equal to the future lives of these children. Even if they are only 50 children. Let’s wait and see what they will build here in the next 5 years. Even till the next election nothing tangible will be build here. This our Country sef. Highest they will allocate the place to one Politician or their relatives. It’s not fair at all. If not for anything for the fact that this is a free school for the poor. A charitable organisation. They would have allowed them this space. God will see us through. I really feel for them. God is really a merciful God if not.
