Manchester City manager Pep, Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra have decided to part ways after three decades together.
The news, as reported by SPORT, indicates that the separation has been characterized as “cordial, stable, and friendly,” suggesting a mutual understanding between the two.
Sources indicate that the couple’s time apart, largely due to Guardiola’s demanding managerial career and the necessity of living in different countries, contributed to their decision to go their separate ways.
Guardiola and Serra journey began in 1994, culminating in their marriage in 2014 during an intimate ceremony near Barcelona. Together, they have raised three children: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17.
Despite parting ways the couple’s commitment to co-parenting and maintaining a positive relationship remains evident as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
Throughout his tenure as Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola has made the English city his home, while his close associate, Brazilian journalist Serra, has remained rooted in Barcelona.
Serra, known for his insightful coverage of football, has frequently been spotted by Guardiola’s side at various events, showcasing a partnership that transcends geographical boundaries.
Sources reveal that the couple chose to end their relationship in December, a decision that was initially kept within a tight-knit circle of friends and family. Those privy to the news were asked to maintain confidentiality, allowing the details of their split to remain discreet for a considerable period.
In 2019, Serra relocated to Barcelona to take charge of her family’s fashion brand, Serra Claret. On the other hand, despite persistent speculation about his future at Manchester City, Guardiola solidified his commitment to the club by signing a contract extension in November, ensuring his stay until 2027.
While the conclusion of their relationship is noteworthy, it appears to have been handled with a commendable level of mutual respect and understanding.
