Arsenal legend, Ian Wright believes Thomas Partey’s mistake against Aston Villa is unforgivable.

The 30-year-old was deployed as a right in the game against Unai Emery’s side.

However, the Ghana international failed to track Ollie Watkins which resulted in the English striker scoring to end the game 2-2 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.

Reacting to the costly mistake, Wright said, “He [Thomas Partey] is not a right-back and that is understandable but as a professional player, he should have sensed that danger and not moved away,” he said on Premier League Production.

“He should have stuck with him and closed Watkins down but he failed. At that level and you make such mistakes, it is unforgivable and he cost Arsenal a win,” he added.

Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz put the Gunners in front but Villa pulled a goal back through Youri Tielemans before Watkins scored to end the game 2-2.

Arsenal will hope to return to winning ways when they host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League before travelling to play Wolves.
