The Catholic Diocese of Warri in Delta State has taken the significant step of suspending Rev. Fr. Daniel Okanatotor Oghenerukevwe from his priestly responsibilities.
This decision comes in light of serious allegations suggesting that he has entered into marriage while in the United States, raising concerns about his adherence to the vows of celibacy expected of clergy.
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the Diocese made a formal announcement through a Decree of Suspension, which was signed by Bishop Rt. Rev. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido and Chancellor Very Rev. Fr. Clement Abobo. The statement disclosed that Fr. Oghenerukevwe had married Ms. Dora Chichah on December 29, 2024, at the Streams of Joy Church in Dallas, USA.
The wedding, which was recorded and widely circulated by the bride’s sister on various social media channels, garnered considerable attention.
