
Senior Communications Manager at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Patrick Akoto, has concluded a three -day West African Football Union (WAFU Zone B) Media Strategies Workshop in Cote D’voire.

The three day workshop – the first of its kind in the thriving zone, concluded on Thursday February 6, 2025, at WAFU B’s new Headquarters in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.
Representatives of all the seven members of the regional body attended as well as a representative of WAFU Zone A was also invited to benefit from the training workshop.
The workshop focuses on digital communication, sports communication, crisis management and sensitive communication, sponsorship, and partnership, amongst other exciting topics.
The workshop provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to develop effective media and communication strategies aimed at improving the promotion of football across the divide.
The knowledge shared at the workshop will enhance the operations of the Communication Department of the Associations and the sub-regional body.
The German Ambassador to Cote D’voire, His Excellency Mr. Matthias Veltin, closed the workshop on behalf of WAFU B President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, alongside hardworking WAFU B Executive Director, Philippe Tchere.
Participants were trained on various aspects of media relations, content creation, and digital communication strategies.
The sessions have been designed to help the member associations build stronger media presence, engage with fans more effectively, and improve the various communication channels.
Akoto, a long standing Director of Communication of Premier League giants Medeama as well as former Communication Manager for the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), continues to break the barriers in football administration.
He has carved a niche as an exciting communicator who combines wits, intelligence and wields an ability to connect with audiences that makes him a hugely respected voice in Ghanaian football media.
