The skipper of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong has picked Amavubi skipper Djihad Bizimana and striker Innocent Nshuti as his favourite players.
Troost-Ekong has played three times against Rwanda and he the duo’s performances have impressed him, hence naming them as his best from Amavubi.
“Rwanda captain Djihad Bizimana is a great player, he is good on the ball and he plays very well in the middle,” he said.
Their striker (Innocent Nshuti) too. He may be big but his movement on and off the ball is good. They have good potentials and they are my best in the Rwanda team,” Ekong told the press.
Troost-Ekong also hailed state-of-the-art Amahoro Stadium which hosted Friday’s World Cup 2026 Qualifier.
“Amahoro Stadium is the best in Africa, is the best I have seen on this our continent. I commend Rwanda, is a shining light for others to follow.
The first group of Nigeria players arrived in Kigali on Tuesday alongside their head coach Eric Chelle who praised Rwanda for their hospitality and the cleanliness of the city.
“I love Rwanda and everything about the country. I can’t imagine here is so clean, every where is so clean. I stayed in France for many years, Rwanda is cleaner than France. People are so welcoming. I saw “Visit Rwanda” on PSG jersey and I am glad to be here,” Chelle stressed.
Nigeria host Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday while Rwanda also take on the Crocodiles of Lesotho at Amahoro Stadium.
