It was a feast and festival of goals on MatchDay 2 at the U-17 African Nations Cup finals taking place in Morocco.
The goal feast started with the encounter between Zambia and Tanzania which ended 4-1 in favour of Zambia.
Jonathan Kalimina opened the scores with a fantastic long range strike while Abel Salim Nyirongo doubled the lead just before halftime.
Substitute Robert ‘Sugar Sugar’ Banda, A Sporting Lusaka FC product set up Makeni All Stars ‘ Mike Mutale for a close range finish to make it 3-0.
Juma Sagwe headed in from close range to reduce the deficit in added time only for Gabriel Phiri pull off a fantastic run and finish, cutting through the Tanzania defense like a hot knife slicing through butter to restore the three goals cushion.
Zambia move to second place in the group behind Morocco on goal difference who humiliated Uganda 5-0 on Sunday.
Next up for Ian Bakala’s side is Morocco on Thursday before concluding their matches against Uganda on Sunday.
In the second match of MatchDay 2, Burkina Faso beat Cameroon 2-1 while South Africa came from behind to defeat Egypt 4-3 to close Day 2 action at the U-17 African Nations Cup finals.
