Tiwa Savage, famous for her innovative music, recently stepped into the world of film with her debut movie premiere on May 9th, 2024. Titled “Water and Garri,” the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting today, May 10th.
Under the direction of Meji Alabi, “Water and Garri” follows the journey of Aisha (portrayed by Savage). A talented fashion designer, Aisha has lived in the United States for the past decade. However, a family tragedy prompts her to return to her homeland.
As she reconnects with family, childhood companions, and a former love interest, Aisha confronts the transformations that have occurred. She grapples with her emotional wounds and the lingering shadows of past decisions, navigating a path toward healing and self-discovery.
The movie’s cast is adorned with an array of celebrated actors, including Tiwa Savage, Mike Afolarin, Jemima Osunde, and Andrew Bunting. Filming took place in the historical city of Cape Coast, Ghana.
The movie premier was graced by a star-studded cast, including Toyin Abraham, Toni Tones, Daniel Russet, Groovy, Sheggz, Mercy Aigbe, Kie Kie, Iyabo Ojo, Hilda Baci, Toke Makinwa, Osas Ighodaro, Kate Henshaw, Koko by Khloe, Chimezie Imo, Eso Dike, and many others. These celebrities were the highlight of the event, showcasing their impeccable style and dazzling attires.
Reekado Banks and Di’ja, famous Nigerian musicians, graced the special event with their presence. Notable media figures Dr Rommel and Akin Faminu also attended, showcasing their own unique styles despite keeping their outfits modest.
