Perhaps no player epitomizes Chelsea’s recent rise more than Moises Caicedo. The midfielder is finally showing why he has become the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
Chelsea were 10th at the start of 2024, but since then only three teams have accumulated more points. Now Mauricio Pochettino’s team is leading the race for sixth place and access to European competition.
Since joining Chelsea last summer for a staggering €116 million, Caicedo has faced much criticism after failing to immediately replicate his performances for Brighton at his new club.
But the 22-year-old has emerged as a key figure in recent months, playing the full 90 minutes in 17 of the last 20 matches and providing four assists in that time.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has provided stability and reliability during a season marred by injuries. In the absence of Enzo Fernandez, Caicedo formed a fruitful partnership with Conor Gallagher.
Despite the hefty price tag, Caicedo’s return to form has gone unnoticed, but the youngster is justifying Chelsea’s investment and shows why he could be a key part of Pochettino’s side in the future.
