Journalist Simon Phillips reports that Chelsea’s potential signings of Crystal Palace players Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise hinge on selling two of their current wingers—Mikhail Mudrik,

Raheem Sterling, or Noni Madueke. Due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR), Chelsea lacks the liquidity to acquire new players without offloading existing ones.

However, selling these players is complex:

  1. Mudrik and Madueke: Both were purchased for significant sums and are on long-term contracts. Selling them at a loss would worsen Chelsea’s financial situation, making holding onto them more flexible.
  2. Sterling: His high salary makes finding a buyer challenging. While selling him would be financially beneficial, no serious interest has been reported.

Consequently, the likelihood of signing Olise or Eze this summer is low, and fans may have to wait longer to see them in a Chelsea shirt.
