Over a decade ago, famous Nigerian singer, Wizkid groundbreaking album “Superstar” laid the foundation for his illustrious music journey. This album paved the way for the star, enchanting listeners with its captivating melodies.
Wizkid’s passion for music emerged early in his life. As a young child, he displayed his musical abilities through collaborations with the Glorious Five, a group he formed with friends from church.
However,in 2009, Wizkid’s music career took a significant turn when he inked a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E), paving the way for his rise as a solo artist.
A year later, in 2010, Wizkid unleashed a song titled “Holla at Your Boy,” the lead single from his upcoming album. This captivating song soared in popularity and earned him a nomination in the Best Pop Single category.
Moreover, the award had a transformative impact on Wizkid’s career, propelling him to win the highly acclaimed Next Rated award at The Headies in 2011. In addition to the award, Wizkid was honored with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, further solidifying his status as a burgeoning force in the music industry.
Wizkid’s breakthrough album “Holla at Your Boy” fused American R&B with rap, solidifying his rise to fame. “Superstar” highlighted his range, mixing Nigerian pop with Western influences. The album also featured chart-toppers like “Pakurumo,” “Love My Baby,” and “Don’t Dull.”
The release of “Superstar” was a pivotal moment in Wizkid’s career. It showcased his extraordinary abilities and ignited a passion in his fans that continues to endure in their memories.
Wizkid expressed gratitude on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on the 13th anniversary of his debut album, “Superstar.”
In his tweet, Wizkid wrote: “13 years since Superstar! My first album! Thankful for all God’s blessings. Healthy family ! blessed life ! love God.”
