Popular Nigerian musician Rema, known for his impactful presence in the music industry, has reportedly ended his association with Mavin Records, the label established by renowned producer Don Jazzy.
In 2019, the Nigerian singer Rema, skyrocketed to stardom after signing with Mavin Records. His distinctive music style, which fuses Afrobeat, trap, and pop, gained widespread acclaim. His debut EP, aptly named “Rema”, featured popular tracks like “Dumebi,” “Iron Man,” and “Corny,” propelling him to international fame.
Rema, is said to have left the label after a five-year tenure that included notable achievements and successful songs.
Rema hits songs “Calm Down” remix with Selena Gomez skyrocketed to success with the support of Mavin Records and Don Jazzy. The remix marked Rema’s debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominated the US Afrobeat chart. It emerged as the most streamed Afrobeats song of 2022, with over 436 million streams combining the original and remix versions.
The departure of Rema from Mavin Records has sparked speculation and disappointment among fans.
Although official confirmation is pending, Rema’s Instagram account no longer displays any posts, including those affiliated with his label. This departure follows Rema’s public criticism of Mavin Records for allegedly exploiting him for publicity.
