On July 5th, 2024, a riveting court hearing took place, where Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s daughter Imade, put forth six compelling arguments against granting Davido custody.
It is worth noting that Davido had filed for joint custody, accusing Momodu of obstructing his visitation rights and asserting that he had always provided for his daughter.
Momodu countered these allegations, asserting that Davido had neglected Imade for the past two years and presenting six reasons why she believed he was not fit for custody.
She however argued that,“Davido’s controversial lifestyle, which often attracts negative media attention, raises concerns about his ability to provide proper care for our daughter.
“This lifestyle, characterized by constant travel and the presence of unsavory male adults, may expose our daughter to negative influences and trauma at a young age.
Additionally, “the Applicant’s estrangement from our daughter and reluctance to engage in child therapy further highlight the challenges in establishing a meaningful and stable presence in our daughter’s life.
“Given the demands of his career as an artist that require frequent international travel, it is questionable whether Davido can be present for our daughter during crucial moments.
Momodu argued that the “Applicant’s marital status and living arrangements with another woman cannot ensure the proper upbringing of their daughter.
Additionally, the unfortunate and questionable circumstances surrounding the loss of the “Applicant’s son in his house further support the argument that the custody of the daughter should not be granted to the Applicant.”
