The ex-Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, has been given a 12-month prison sentence with conditions for not fulfilling his financial obligations towards his wife and two children.
The punishment was confirmed by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, as per Le Parisien.
The judge’s decision was that Patrice Evra, 43 years old, abandoned his partner, Sandra Evra, and their children between May 1, 2021, and September 28, 2023.
Patrice Evra allegations of owing €969,000 in overdue spousal support. Evra received a 12-month suspended jail sentence for a two-year period.
Additionally, he is required to pay his spouse €4,000 for emotional distress and €2,000 for legal expenses.
Sandra and Patrice Evra,who got married in 2007 until 2020, are currently in a legal battle.
The left-back has taken legal action against his wife. According to his lawyer Jerome Boursica, Patrice has provided Sandra with an apartment, a house with a swimming pool in the south of France, and lent her nearly two million euros for her daily expenses.
However, Sandra refuses to return this amount, leading to the ongoing trial.
The couple who were both together since the tender age of 15, having given birth to 2 children together, named Lenny Evra and Maona.
