President William Ruto has amended his initial list of Cabinet nominees that was unveiled last week, as communicated to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon by Speaker Moses Wetangula.
The key change sees Aden Duale being reassigned from the Defence Ministry to the Environment docket.
Soipan Tuya, who had been nominated to the Environment Ministry, has now been moved to the Defence Ministry.
Reacting to the reassignment, Duale took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) to express his gratitude to President Ruto.
“I am Grateful to President Williams Ruto for reassigning me from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry,” Duale’s post read.
He further stated, “I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts.”
Duale also cited a verse from the Quran, saying, “Indeed, ‘And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know.’ – Quran 2:216.”
All other Cabinet nominations announced by the President earlier remain unchanged, as confirmed by the Speaker’s communication to Parliament.
