The Reds are yet to make any signings so far this summer, but business is expected to ramp up with the new Premier League season set to get underway in just four weeks. There have already been plenty of outgoings, with Thiago Alcantara retiring and Joel Matip and Adrian leaving after their contracts expired.
Liverpool have also shipped defender Calvin Ramsay out on loan to Wigan, while a number of big names are entering the final 12 months of their contracts. With all that in mind, here is the latest transfer news from Anfield.
Trent considers Real Madrid move
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and a new report from The Independent claims that he is planning to ‘see how things go’ at Liverpool before making a decision on his future.
Alexander-Arnold has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield and it has been claimed that his close friendship with Jude Bellingham could help persuade the right-back to make the move to Madrid.
He is not the only important player who will be out of contract at Anfield next summer, with Liverpool also needing to sort out the futures of star man Mohamed Salah and club captain Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk latest
According to Di Marzio, Van Dijk is unlikely to leave Liverpool this season as the Reds enter a new era under Slot.
“I don’t think van Dijk will leave this summer,” he told wettbasis.com. “At this moment of change after the Jurgen Klopp era, I think Virgil can be so important to transmit the ideas of Liverpool to the new coach so I don’t think they will let him go this summer.
“At the end of this season we’ll see if he will go or not. “I don’t think he’ll play for another Premier League team. I only think offers can arrive from Saudi Arabia because he’s a player who’s wanted there. They will arrive, I don’t know when, with an economic proposal for him and we’ll see if the player wants to try this experience or stay in Europe and fight for titles and the Champions League.”
Liverpool urged to hijack Arsenal transfer
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has urged the Reds to try and hijack Arsenal’s move for Italy star Riccardo Calafiori.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Bologna defender, who starred at Euro 2024, and Hamann believes he would be a perfect fit for Liverpool. “Riccardo Calafiori is a very good player and is so comfortable on the ball, it’s no surprise that when he missed Italy’s game against Switzerland, they put in a terrible performance,” he told Top Offshore Casinos,.
“They were awful from start to finish, awful. That came after he set up the last-minute equaliser against Croatia. I think Virgil van Dijk said he wants to stay and he wants to be with his fellow countryman Arne Slot, he wants to help him get back to winning ways at Liverpool. Ibrahima Konate is a brilliant defender but just has too many injuries. Calafiori would be a very good player depending on how much he’d cost
