Liverpool are yet to make a first team signing under Arne Slot but the Dutch boss remains unconcerned.

Jurgen Klopp’s replacement is happy with the quality he has at his disposal, and has admitted that can be problematic when looking for new stars. Slot is prepared to remain patient for the right options.

“If you inherit a team that’s really good, it’s not so easy to find players who are even higher especially because those ones need to be available as well. Richard more than me is working really hard on that. He keeps me updated on that,” said Slot.

“If there’s any news on that we will come to you. We already have a good team, but it would be a surprise for all of us if we don’t bring any player in. That will probably happen in the end. For now, we’re just waiting for the players to come back and the right ones to sign.”

The Dutch coach will be happy to see his team improved before the summer is out however. With that said, Mirror Football looks at some of the latest transfer news around the club.

Liverpool eye free signing
Reports in France suggest that Liverpool will look to sign Mathys Angely. The teenager is without a club after Bordeaux filed for bankruptcy and gave up their professional status.

The French side’s squad will be released following the termination of their contracts, meaning players will be available for free. Due to Brexit rules, Liverpool will not be able bring Angely to Liverpool until April however.

Fenway Sports Group, owners of the Anfield side, had been in discussions over a possible move for Bordeaux. The purchase was not deemed viable due to the club’s financial situation however.

Salah’s first impression of Slot
Mohamed Salah has just under a year remaining on his Liverpool contract and following interest from the Saudi Pro League last summer, his future has been much-speculated on. The Egyptian’s opening interactions with new boss Slot could prove informative over where his future could lie, at least for 2024/25.

It seems like the veteran winger has enjoyed what he has seen so far. Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, who departed at the end of his contract last month, reveal Salah’s thoughts.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Adrian said: “I speak almost every day with many of the squad — Kostas Tsimikas, Mo Salah. They tell me they like it, the ideology is the same as with Jurgen. To be intense, direct, play with pace, press high, be brave.

“Liverpool’s squad is made for that. So the new coach will know how to adapt well to the players he has. And I wish him the best.”

Blow in Joao Neves pursuit
Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with Benfica starlet Joao Neves, but appear to have lost out to PSG. The 20-year-old has seen an agreement near for his service with the Ligue 1 side proving most persuasive.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Renato Sanches could be included in a £60m deal, after Benfica had initially established a £120m release clause. The Italian said: “Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on João Neves deal!

“New, positive round of talks again today. PSG want to get it sealed next week. Details of package being discussed after €70m fee + players to include for Benfica, like Renato Sánches. Here we go, expected soon.”
