President William Ruto has expressed the government’s commitment to supporting Kenyans who leave the country for jobs abroad.

Speaking in Taita Taveta on Sunday, the Head of State revealed that 1,000 Kenyans leave the country every week to take overseas jobs.

“I have done my work, I have looked for jobs abroad. I have planned that those going for overseas jobs get their passports in one week. They do not even need money for flight tickets, we will pay for flights,” Ruto said.

The president urged Members of Parliament to organize youths in their constituencies so that they can benefit from the jobs abroad.

Ruto has also inked deals with various countries, which will see Kenya export its youthful workforce to tackle the issue of youth unemployment in the country.

In addition to those going abroad, Ruto has been keen on creating digital jobs, where youth can work for overseas companies remotely.

On May 26, the president promised to secure investments and opportunities, including 10,000 overseas jobs for Kenyans, with the plan to see 250,000 Kenyans work abroad each year.
