New club owner Adam Webb confirmed the 25-year-old faces disciplinary action after retweeting a film made by the English Defence League founder in which Robinson repeats false claims he made about a refugee that led to him losing a libel case in 2021.

It sparked an angry response from some of the Perth club’s fans on social media, after which MacPherson removed the retweet and made his X profile private.

Initially the club said it had dealt with the matter internally and would not be making any further comment.

But now Webb – in an open letter to supporters – has said MacPherson’s actions violated the club’s “rules of conduct” and “will not be tolerated”.

MacPherson said in a statement on the club’s website: “I would like to start by apologising for reposting a film that appeared on my X account.

“I have shown poor judgement without considering the club’s code of conduct.

“Upon reflection, and my own further research, I fully understand why people have been so upset and angry regarding this situation.

“I have now fully understood the impact of my actions and I am committed to learning from this experience.”

Webb said the club have now “strengthened” their rules of conduct and he is keen to move on from the episode after MacPherson’s “unintentional lapse of judgment”.

He added: “I can assure you Cammy understands and agrees that this is a club that is open to all. His contrition is real and he has learned a valuable lesson.”
