The National Judicial Council has put forward Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the candidate for the next Chief Justice of Nigeria.

This significant recommendation emerged during the NJC’s 106th meeting, which was chaired by the current Chief Justice, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

He is set to retire on August 22, having reached the age limit of 70. Originally scheduled for August 16, the meeting was moved up to August 15 and took place behind closed doors in Abuja.

Additionally, the NJC proposed 27 other individuals for appointments as judges to the state high court during this session.
