President Ruto Embarks on Unprecedented Cabinet Nominee Support Tour

President William Samoei Ruto has been actively campaigning across the country to garner support for their proposed Cabinet nominees.

Billow adan kerrow, a former Mandera Senator, voiced his disapproval of the President’s actions on his Twitter handle, stating,

“I have never seen a President go round the country urging Kenyans to support his Cabinet nominees. Unprecedented. Unnecessary. Only Parliament can endorse or reject them.”

The Kiswahili proverb he invoked, “kizuri chajiuza, kibaya chajitembeza,” roughly translates to “good things sell themselves, bad things have to be advertised.”

However, an Official from President’s office who spoke to Arabia Media Network said

“The President firmly believes that the proposed Cabinet is the best team to drive the country’s development agenda forward. They are qualified, experienced, and committed to serving the people of Kenya. The President is simply making the case directly to the citizens.”

Another political analyst, Abdullahi Hussien, offered a different perspective, saying, “While it is unusual for a President to take such an active role in advocating for their Cabinet picks, it does demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring their vision is realized. The President is likely hoping to build public support that will influence the parliamentary approval process.”
