Leicester City coach Steve Cooper says he is happy to have Chipolopolo forward Patson Daka who he has described as a very positive person back in the mix.
Daka last week started full team training after recovering from an injury sustained during the Foxes final preseason friendly match.
Cooper feels Daka once fully fit will be a great addition to the squad and will give Competition for places upfront.
“He is an asset for the team and it’s been great to have him in and around the squad and back in the mix,” Cooper explained.
“He’s such a positive guy and he’s obviously a good player with certain attributes that can really help the team.”
“He’s once again going to be a great option and [gives] competition for places. He had a serious injury that ruled him out for three or four months and it was an awkward injury as well that we just have to be careful with,” he added.
The Welsh man says it’s tempting to throw him into the mix immediately but they won’t rush him and will continue to give him the right training programme.
Cooper admitted that the Zambian international has looked good and sharp when he’s been with the team.
“It’s tempting just to throw him straight back in, but at the same time we don’t want to do that to the detriment of getting him fully fit. We’re sticking to the right plan and operation with the medical team to get him up to speed,” he said.
“At the moment, it’s about giving him the right training programme, seeing how he is and making good decisions about when he returns to games. But he’s looking good and sharp when he’s been with us and I’m sure that’ll grow as he really gets back to full fitness.”
Daka will miss the Foxes trip to Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United, a team they have not beaten since 2021, a game in which Daka got his first Leicester City goal.
